The LES Partnership has been looking at how best to organise itself in light of work so far and opportunities in the future. After reviewing a full range of options, the Board has approved plans to move towards establishing a formal not-for-profit social enterprise, with the core aim of ‘reducing transport emissions through local action’.
The intention is that the Partnership will be owned by local authorities, and run for local authorities - enabling them to work together towards shared environmental goals. The change in status would provide more security to those local authorities involved, by limiting any associated liabilities. It would also place the Partnership onto a concrete footing, increase its potential to bid for new grant funding and to explore a wider range of revenue models.
The Board will be working through the details over the course of the summer. More information will be available in autumn 2012. If you would like to discuss any of the details, please contact us at info@lowemissionstrategies.org
